Thanks to everyone who was able to join us on Tuesday, July 25.  It was a great Oregon summer evening and fun meeting and talking with everyone. To everyone who was not able to attend, we are sorry you had to miss this special evening.

To members of the Class of 2021 and their families, welcome again to the Penn family!

The Penn Club of Portland owes a great big thank you to Annie and Ernie Munch for sharing their beautiful home and lawn with us!

First September/End of Summer Happy Hour

Thursday, September 21, from 4:30pm until the last person leaves.

First September refers to the first September as Penn alums for the Class of 2017.  With just over 24 hours left in the summer, plan to toast the new fall season and welcome the recent graduates who have returned or relocated to our area.  The recent grads are invited to join other alumni and friends of Penn for food, beverage and conversation at the White Owl Social Club in SE Portland.

Look for for friendly faces and our small and tasteful tabletop Penn flag.

New-to-Portland alums get first drink free before 6pm

RSVPs are not required, but always appreciated.

2017 Book Awards

Each year the Penn Club of Portland gives book awards to deserving rising seniors at high schools in our area.  The book selected each year is one written by a professor or graduate of the university and that is accessible to high school students.  We ask the authors to write a short personalized note in each book. In the past we have presented books by Mary Ellen Mark, Witold Rybczynski, Andrea Mitchell, David DeLong and the late Rick Beeman.  The book presented to this year’s recipients is Penn psychology professor Angela Duckworth’s Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance.

Support the Penn Club of Portland with your paid membership!

Dues for 2017 are due now. The membership form is linked to the right.  Print the form and return it today.  The dues schedule is explained on the form.

Club members receive discounts on most club events, but, most importantly, your membership dues help us to plan a sendoff event each summer for new students, to give book awards to several current high students and to provide financial assistance in bringing programs from the University to our area.
